Exhaust heat shield bolt

Post by hollywood »

Hi, new member here. We have a 2007 Vibe since birth and, other than having the ECM replaced in '10, this has been a great little car for my wife. Recently the bolt set into the fuel tank strap rusted out, resulting in the rear heat shield bouncing off the exhaust pipe when running. Noisy. I have not been able to find that bolt as a replaceable part anywhere online, or as something someone has also had happen. Has anyone experience with or knowledge of this problem? Do I have to replace the tank strap itself? I have it wired up for now, so it doesn't drive my wife nuts. (good pun?)
Thanks for any help.

A former co-worker kinda ripped her fastener off, the result of spinning out in the wet and crossing the median, also ruining two rims in the process. The "correct" solution is to replace the strap. The shop she took it to just wired it up like you did and as far as I know, it is still working fine.
