Receiver/Radio With 2 Wire Harnesses

Post by Firstcar05gt »

I have an 05 Pontiac Vibe GT and am trying to swap out the factory stock one CD radio with a new Pioneer receiver. When I took out my stock radio, I saw that there were 2 different bundles of connection wires, one smaller and black, and the other one larger and white. I bought what I thought was the right harness, but it was only was wide harness. I have been looking all over the internet and this forum for information on why I have 2 harnesses, and where to buy a harness I can connect to my after market radio.

This is my first car so I really only know the basics of a car an electricity, but that's about it. I have also noticed that a few other people had posted about this, but I have not found the answer yet, sorry for my obnoxiousness.

It's been a while but I don't believe the second (smaller) harness is even necessary with an aftermarket radio.

Just as long as you have the main harness (and it has the amp turn-on lead if you have moon & tunes/sun&sound) you should be OK.

I tried to plug the harness in to only the larger of the two but the harness I have is now too big for the one coming from the car.
