CV Axle Clunk?

Post by mcarr1243 »

On my 03 Vibe with 89000 miles and with a manual trans. I have been having a clunk in the front. This noise is the the worst when the car has sit still for a while or going over hard bumps. I have replaced the entire front suspensions( axles, control arms, balls joints, tie rod ends, sway bar bushings, tie rod ends, struts and springs). The axles are from advance autoparts. Could the axles cause a clunk when I hit bumps? Any input would be great, this clunk is driving me insane. Thanks.

I had the same issue. When you go over bumps it sounds like there's something bumping up and down in the car. One of my front struts went out and it was actually a bit dangerous to drive it in that condition apparently. It ran me about $700  since they are replaced in pairs, but the struts have a lifetime warranty so I never have to worry about it again.

EDIT: I just saw that you replaced your struts already. I'll keep the post here in case anyone else has the issue though.
