As promised here are my impressions of my Nexen Winguard sport snow tires ( not to be confused with the winguard snow tires as available from Walmart, not quite the same tire). On dry or wet roads these tires compare favorably to the Falken all seasons that came with my car when I bought it, they are quiet and handle well with little to no squirmy feeling like I feel on our other car with Blizzaks. Since we finally had snow yesterday I got to try them out, and in about 12" of fairly wet packy snow, they worked extremely well, could accelerate well with no traction control intervention and only had stability control kick in a couple of times when I was pushing it to see how they worked. No abs kicking in on braking either. All in all they compare favorably with the Blizzaks and I couldn't be happier, especially since I paid about half the price for my 215/45/17 tires. I feel I can safely recommend them to anyone looking for a performance oriented winter tire.
I have the same tires in 205-50-17. Great in the cold in wet/dry. I don't find them as good on snow-covered roads as a winter tire with a more open tread.
Overall I'm happy. Roads in southern Ontario are generally clear of snow.
Well as we have had more snow etc recently I can say that they are still comparing favorably to my partners 1 year old Blizzaks on the 3 sport, I am sure that a pure snow tire will work better if you are in an area that gets a lot os snow, but for the conditions here they are great.
The barber are you sure yours are the sports? I thought when I was looking the normal winguards were the 205/50/17 but I could be mistaken and the sport was available in both ( the 215/45/17 which is the correct size for my car were not available in the normal winguard ) as I was more concerned with the size for my car.
I am still very happy with the tires, and when it is time to replace the Blizzaks we will probably get a set for the 3 as well, unless we have replaced the 3 by that point.
