Replacing radio in 06 Vibe

Post by kwoil15 »

I want to install a new headunit on my 06 Vibe, with the monsoon sound system. I have a new headunit I want to install in it. My question is what type of wiring harnesses will I need to complete the install? Do I need any special wiring harness for the monsoon system? Any help on this install would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

My son and I just put in a new double DIN DVD unit in his 06 Vibe yesterday, and with the adapter kits, it was easy. You basically just match the wire colors from the wire harness adapter to the new radio wiring harness. Best bet is to look on http://www.crutchfield.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for the installation kits necessary to complete the install. If you buy a radio from them, most of the parts are free or 1/2 price. You need:

Free install parts on radios over $119, costs about $15 for cheaper radios -

In dash received faceplate kit. This is a double DIN one: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_003GMK422/ ... r-Kit.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If you get a smaller single DIN radio: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142PT2049/ ... r-Kit.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Receiver wire harness: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120702003/ ... ml?tp=2977" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Antenna adapter: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_12040GM10/ ... apter.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and

1/2 price-

an adapter for hooking up the factory amp: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_127SOEM4/PAC-SOEM-4.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They also give you step by step instructions for your specific car and free tech support to help with the install questions. Just run your car on their website and look at all the available units to find the kits. You can order the kits at full price if you have a radio already. The local stereo shop's price on install kits was about $12 more plus tax than Crutchfield
