rain water infiltration- leaking windshield not sunroof

Post by tenfourk »

Love my '06 Vibe. LOVE. Shortly after buying it used 6 mos ago, I found I had a leak in what I thought was the sun roof. Water was dripping from the trim high on the passenger side A post ( btw the windshield and the pass door). Took a peek under the headliner and into that area by taking off the visor and the sun roof trim to see towards that area. Set up a garden hose spraying on the car and found dripping water from the windshield at the top pass corner-NOT the sunroof. Brought it to a windshield guy( not just an installer of new windows, but a Glass Guy ). He fou d water had been seeping under the windshield and running along the whole front frame where the roof meets the windshield. Had to have the rust ground off and painted and the windshield put back (he was able to get it out and replace it without cracking it). He said if left unchecked it would have continued rusting and would have eventually required thousands in body work. Hope this might help if anyone else has similar problem.

welcome to genvibe and thanks for the heads up. Glad you were able to get someone to fix it right, and before the damage got too bad.

What does a procedure like that cost? I don't have any leaks in mine, just curious. Has to be cheaper than if you had let it go longer

Hmm.. Mine has leaked before, after getting the windshield replaced, but it seems to have stopped and I actually forgot about it. Mine leaked at the top above above the steering wheel and would just drip straight down. Hope this doesn't happen to me!
