Broken fog light hack

Post by kmlance »

My fogs have been cracked for awhile on my 03 vibe awd. I only use it as a winter car so I never was inclined to pay for new ones. Well, while returning some stuff to a parts store, I found some cheap fog lights and figured I could mount in the factory hole..... not without some issues securing them. So, I gutted the old housings and mounted the aftermarket fogs inside the factory ones! Worked great. I tried to upload some pics but they were too large, I don't feel like messing with it now, but it worked with some drilling and grinding. Fits like it should!

What brand/model fog light did you use? Did the new lamp install into the old "bulb" or into the original housing? Did the illumination improve? My stock fog lights are about useless!

Kmlance has left the building.
Does anyone know which aftermarket fog lamps will fit neatly into the 03-08 Vibe fog lamp housings?

I don't have the answer to that question, but...

A few years back, both of my fog lights were broken. What I did was buy a set of Pilot Navigator chromed out fog lights for around 60$. They're 4 inch lights, part # is NV-361. To mount them, a bit of modification was needed to the stock fog light mounting location, but the finished product looked pretty good. The only thing is, I managed to break those too within a few months of owning them. Now I just made two covers to stick on top of the fog lights before they crumbled into little shards of glass, leaving a gaping hole in my bumper.

Thanks MrHatch!
I was hoping to find the exact fog lights that can mount into the existing lamp holders. The "VIBE" fog lamp covers you made look Great!

Thanks, they weren't too hard to make either. Just some tractor reflectors, some paint, some vinyl and some two-sided tape.

I dug up a couple pics, during and after the install.
