Ok, so most people like the Injen CAI for the Vibe GT. I think I am convinced to get one. But, the question is how easy is it to install. I saw some postings about a check engine light coming on. A local performance shop will install it for $80 but I am not sure if I have to buy it from them. So, what does everyone think? Easy to install?

If you have a basic knowlege of mechanics and know your way under the hood it is quite simple. I did it in my driveway in about an hour. mine is a base model though there can't be much difference.as far as the light coming on, it has done it to me 2 times ( i was horsing around) but I just unhooked the positive battery cable for a minute. and let it reset.love Ingen hope this helps
I didn't know ANYTHING about cars. Before the Vibe, the most modding I did was some windshield decals and a garbage can in the back. No lie.I don't know much more now, but definitely more than I did a year ago this time. I did the CAI install in about 2 hours, on a base model. Not sure what else is involved with the GT version. Not much from what I hear. It was VERY easy...I had one simple error, a screw in the wrong hole, which slowed me down for about 20 minutes, until I realized it. It was very easy to do.If you can use basic tools (ratchet driver, screwdriver, wrenches), you can do this install. Just leave yourself plenty of time to do it.As to CELs, not a single one yet! Definitely go Injen! I'll actually be in Bloomington, IN next week, if you're interested in meeting up I can show you my CAI setup and give you a quick preview of the install process.
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!
It was not that hard to install. It does help if you have another person helping you though. It really helps when you put the filter on to have the extra hands. Other than that, it is pretty straight forward. Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you all for the replies. I think I am convinced to do it myself. I have worked on cars a little and feel that I need to get back into it (my last car I worked on was an 86 Cavalier (however you spell it . I am really getting excited about working on my Vibe now that I have had it almost a year. Ragingfish I would love to meet up with you somewhere and check it out. Bloomington is about 50 minutes away from me but an easy and nice drive. So, one more question. Do you all really notice a difference? Do you get more HP in lower RPMs or is it at the magic 6400 RPM mark still? Thanks again for everyone's input I really do appriciate it!

Do you get more HP in lower RPMs or is it at the magic 6400 RPM mark still?I would say there was more difference down low than up high. It did seem to smooth out the transition to lift, and there is more power, but there is quite a bit more torque down low.
