I recently purchased a 2004 Vibe with just about a lil over 100k miles. The day I purchased the car, the test drive was great and even paid a local mechanic to go over the vehicle, in which he gave a positive report. Well, to my dismay, the day I drove the car home, the check engine light came on

After doing some research online, it looks like I'm not the only one who's having the issue. The issue that concerns me is that there could be multiple causes for the error and it could get rather expensive fixing one item and having the CEL come on again. The transmission runs smoothly and haven't noticed any problem with it as of yet. The fluid was checked and appears to be normal. I already called the dealer I bought the car from and he told me to bring it in this weekend so he could look at.
Has anyone here ever ran into this issue and have any recommendations? Is this transmission or car doomed for failure? I must say that this has me stressing being that this happened on day 1 of ownership!
