what qualifies a "ricer"?

Post by wildcat »

i was reading all these posts about "ricers" and i was wondering what qualifies a car as being one. i mean, originally i thought it was any low powered import hooked up with a loud a$$ exhaust and intake, but it kinda seems like some of us fall into that category. no offense to anyone that has hooked up their vibe like this because i was thinking about doing the same thing, i just don't want to fall into the category with all the other ricers.thanks

Well, what's funny about the whole ricer definition is that it's a little different for everybody. When I think of ricers, I think of huge wings on front wheel drive cars, UGLY body kits - especially ones where they remain unpainted while ON the car itself. Altezza lights (cheap ones w/lots of chrome) The biggest "ricer" thing there is, is putting things on your car that don't belong there - i.e. false badging. I've seen a "TRD" sticker which modified the "T" to say"H" for "Honda Racing Development." I've seen ferrari emblems on a civic. Fart-can mufflers that give little or no gain, but are just there for being loud count too. There's a way to do "rice" with style, sadly most everyone doesn't. This is just my opinion on ricers - I'm sure your mileage will vary.

Those are the phatest hubcaps ever!!!! The complement the grafix on that civic to the max. I also like the civic type R emblem Along with the EX emblem. Which one is it, lol. When I think of a ricer I think of moding a car in poor taste or overdoing it. If the mods are clean then good for the owner. If they stick out like a sore thumb then they are a ricer.

quote:Who/What Exactly Is a Rice-Boy?Rice-Boy is a stereotype. The typical Rice-Boy can be identified by his car, or rather what he does to it. Generally, Rice-Boy will start out with a car that was not meant to go fast (typically a Honda Civic), and attempt to "fix it up," usually consisting of aftermarket rims, lowering springs and an aftermarket exhaust system with a large exhaust tip. Most Rice-Boy cars (or "Rice Rockets") have the usual complement of stickers proudly displaying features that the car might or might not have, most notably, the Honda VTEC sticker from the later model Preludes, and the plaques from the later model Integras. Rice-Boys do not exclusively drive Japanese cars. There are quite a few fake Mustang '5.0's and Camaro Z28's out there, as well as quite a few strange looking Neons.
