Request: Disabling DRL / Fog light control on 2008 Vibe

Post by liquidaluminum »

Hello everyone,

I have browsed through forums and used the search function, but to no avail. I have a 2008 Vibe Base that I would like to disable the DRL on. I would also like to be able to independently control the Fog lights as well. When browsing, I was able to find a DRL thread, but it was for pre-2008, where you could cut a yellow wire and ground it out, to restore full light control to the driver, but I don't think that option will work in my car. The reason I say that is, everyone kept mentioning how you can pull the emergency brake up and start the car, and the lights would be off. While this was true in my Grand-Am, this option doesn't work on my Vibe. If it's dark, it doesn't matter if I have the e-brake engaged on not, the DRLs come on regardless. Does anyone have any ideas? Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Vibes were nearly identical from 2003 - 2008. The 2009-2010 were substantially different from the 2003-2008 models. Any of the Pre-2008 methods you found should still work on your 2008

I cut the red/white wire at the DRL module and ran it to a switch so I could enable/disable the lights. Can't remember why I wanted to, but I find that I never disable them anymore.

If you want to independently control your foglights, then see viewtopic.php?t=9844" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

viewtopic.php?t=31176" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is another relevant thread
