pick a wheel, any wheel!

Post by Chiadog »

Which of these wheel covers would you install, if this was your Vibe?
#1- Gloss black stock wheel w/ chrome trim ring.
#2- Chrysler? style 10 spoke chrome.
#3- 2002 chev Impala 14 spoke chrome.

Thanks for the input!

Personally, none of the above. I leave my steelies bare.

But option #3 looks the best on your car IMO.

Thanks Star!
Do you like the multi-hole stock wheel appearance?
Have you looked for different styles of steelies from other vehicles?
Thanks,

The wheel covers smack around and make noise and collect a lot of dirt and muck in the winter. The steelies are only on the car for the winter months though and the car rarely looks anywhere near clean...

You should be able to find a dcent set of alloys down there on the classified sited for not too many pennies.

I don't mind the look of the steelies, seen uglier ones... Not really looking to change out the style on the winter rims. I do need new tires on them though, some of the studs have been thrown and the sipes are almost gone.

No offense, but I'm just not a fan of those plastic aftermarket wheel covers. Every time I see a car with them I think of the sleazy used car salesman places that grab a set of $19.95 hubcaps at Walmart and throw them on a car and then jack up the price $500. I see them broken up along the roads where they popped off and got run over quite often. But of those styles, I think the Impala ones look the best.

Like the others here, not a fan of any of them BUT no. 3 would be my preference if I had to choose. Your best bet would be to get the original Pontiac 5-spoke hubcaps (they bolt into your lug nuts) as they have real style :)

Agreed. The Factory hubcaps look pretty darn good just for hubcaps. They arent flat like most hubcaps & fit the car well. I just repainted mine with duplicolors high performane wheel paint ( silver ) & it looks really good. If i had to pick it would be between 2 & 3. Good luck !

All excellent points! I had forgotten how flimsy clip-ons can be.
I may have to consider Matrix or corolla bolt-ons. No offense, but I've seen too many Vibes with the twisted star-fish wheels / covers.
I'll let the group know what I end up choosing. It May be a while, I want to receive the car title before I spend any more cash on it.
Thanks,

I'm not a fan of any of the choices. As I said in your other thread and as others have said in this thread, I prefer the look of OEM wheel covers. They look much nicer and not as "cheap" as most aftermarket wheel covers I've seen. You could always get some OEM wheel covers and paint them or something...

My local junk-yard settled the question. They had a decent set of Vibe Alloys with a good tires, so I bought them. $400.00 for the set plus the passenger side fog lamp -which I needed.
Anyone know the paint code for the wheels? They could use a little touch-up.

Those look good and that is a good deal with tires & I guess lug nuts too. No idea on the paint code. My son's wheels have a few chips on them and I was going to try the body color and see how far off it is, and then try to get closer with the various touch up paints at the store, but I haven't had a chance to.

Awesome deal! The alloys look great on your Vibe ;)! They will be much easier then steelies and covers to keep clean and looking nice as well!

As far as the paint code, I have no idea, but you could always just get some Duplicolor silver wheel paint and paint all 4 wheels so they match. Just a thought.

Thanks J_TO,
I'll probably wait till next summer to paint the wheels, since they still look great at 50 feet! :D

LOL! That's why I love silver cars, even when they're dirty, you can't tell unless you're right up next to them !

Thanks for the offer Zvibe!
I'll give you the same answer I gave my brother who also owns a vibe. NO ... WAY!!!
Actually, you wouldn't want them - 2 are bent and 1 is out of round. Not even sure if I want to attempt using them.

Man, I sold those exact rims, with great tires for 200 Bucks, when I upgraded to my first set of 18"s. They def. look better than the first 3 choices.
