2006 Vibe brake job

Post by gdenning »

First-time poster here...

Was told this week that I have 10% left on my front brake pads, 70% on the back. Was told the rotors need to be replaced as well. Mechanic quoted $450 for front pads and rotors with labour, so I'm going to do it myself for much cheaper. I do not have much experience doing this type of work, but I think this is something I can hanlde.

Does anyone have (or is there a thread) step-by step instructions on changing brake pads and rotors with a list of materials needed?

Thanks!

I just replaced my son's front pads a couple of months ago, and it was not hard after I read this thread, but I've done like 10 other brake jobs:

I did not touch the rotors. They look like they can rust on pretty good.

Rotor thread:

Good luck on it!
