Catalytic converter issue . . .

Post by Nitetrain »

2009 2.4L, I have a engine code of P0420 catalytic converter ineffiencey. The O2 sensors have voltage and temperature readings. This Vibe was re-built from an accident, the exhaust mani-cover does has a few dents in it. I am thinking the honeycomb is cracked. I am going to answer my own question with . . . take off the exhaust manifold/cat-combo look at the inside and assess from there.

But any more suggestions or ideas?

Thanks,
Nitetrain

Well, I took a look and low and behold . . . NOTHING. The used car dealer "gutted the cat"!!!

I put on a magna-flow, sounds good & no more check engine light!
