Is it possible to have the "Moon" without the "Tunes"?

Post by 03VIBEswfl »

What's up y'all-

Silly question, maybe, but I'm trying to figure out if I actually have the "Moon n Tunes" package" since that's going to impact any after-market stuff I want to do on there.

I have a 2003 Vibe with a moonroof and all of its original paperwork.

On the original window sticker that the car would have had on it at the dealership, it says the following:

Moon & Tunes Package:
* Moonroof
* 200 Watt Premium Audio System
Moon & Tunes Package Discount .......... -$700.00 (that's "$700" with a "minus sign" in front of it)

On the actual Manifest that came with the car, it indicates that I have the following:

U1P AM/FM w/BASE CD PLAYER

Nowhere on the Manifest does it say anything about Tunes Package or Premium Audio or 200 Watt or anything like that, although it does mention Remote Lock, Floor Mats, and things of that nature.

So my question is: Is it possible that I have the "Moon" on this thing, but not the "Tunes?"

Since the original owner was an older white lady, I'm thinking it wouldn't be beyond the pale that she went for the moonroof but declined the sound system. ;) If it helps, I just have the single CD player - no multi-disc changer.

Thanks!

Getting them separately was supposed to be impossible, even with a special order.

The m&t radio was the same as the regular radio. M&T gave you and amp under the front passenger seat and tweeters in the front doors, where the exterior side view mirrors attach. The tweeters are the easiest thing to notice, but if you also look for some generic looking electric box under the passenger seat.

Well I definitely have the tweeters.

The "monsoon" thing people talk about only came around in later models, right?

Yes, in the 05+ cars they added the monsoon sub in the right side of the hatch area that you can see in this pic.

Oh, and to answer your original question, colterk on here does have the "Moon", without the monsoon package. See his thread:

Technically, it is possible to have a sunroof on a 2003 Vibe without the audio components of the MoonTunes package, as it is possible to have a 2003 Vibe that has the Moon&Tunes package installed by the factory but no longer still has either neither a sunroof or the audio components of the M&T package. When you buy a used car, you never really know what the previous owner(s) did to it. However, for the 03 model year, the sunroof and amp/tweeters were not available from the factory separately

Looked under the passenger seat, and lo and behold there's a flat metal box with wires attached to it -- the M&T amplifier, I presume?

I have a 2004 Vibe with a similiar configuration, that is a moon roof without the monsoon package. I bought it recently from a dealer and haven't recovered yet from dealer remorse, but when I ran the VIN it stated a multi-disk cd/MP3 compatiable with AM/FM radio, but it turns out that I have a single disk player that does not run MP3 cds.

Hmm, but wouldn't the amp (assuming that's what it is) under the passenger seat indicate M&T?
