has anybody had dyno tuning

Post by passtimik »

I installed a short ram K&N air filter and magnaflow cat back exhaust. Should I bother dyno tuning? Will it make a difference? Any personal experiences to talk about?

Probably would not make much difference I wouldn't bother. Besides there is nothing to be tuned on these cars without adding engine management. Unichip, or e manage. A pre programmed unichip actually might make some difference. I haven't tried one tho.

If you had a piggyback (Greddy EMU/EMB, AEM FIC, CAMCON) then you could do a dyno tune but your money would be better spent if you added some fi then get a Tune

Did not want to create a new thread so I will just ask, how do you like the CAI and Magnaflow exhaust? This is the basic upgrades I want to do with my Vibe. Also by looking at some historical threads the price on the magnaflow has increased considerably compared to what it used to be years ago - I suppose those were pre-tsunami prices. I am a DSM owner and the prices on import parts from Japan from my AWD eclipse increased considerably after the incident.

Adding the intake and exhaust were exciting for me, being they were my first mods ever. The outcome of adding these upgrades was that I experienced some nice gains in hp and a more thrilling ride, for me. It was also the beginning of "mod fever", which can become ecpensive. I was able to get the cat-back on ebay a little cheaper than most other websites... i think $450 a year ago. The intake was close to $200. In my opinion, well worth it.

Ah cool, thanks for the input; And yeah I know about the mod bug, I have a highly modified AWD Eclipse as my other vehicle.
