DEALER COST IN CANADA

Post by vibenorth »

Not that it will do you much good now but the base model dealer cost is about $17600. So there is about a 9% mark-up($19150). I doubt there is much bargaining going on with the limited supply though. Also I was able to get the GM employee off the lot discount(5%) and still get what I wanted from the factory.

I wouldn't expect to see any bargaining going on until the supply goes up. My dealer couldn't find any base vibes with a 5speed, abs and side air bags in Canada anywhere, so I had to order to get what I wanted.Ken.

I had a similar experience. The dealer managed to find a Vibe nearby that matched what we wanted, although not in the color we initially were looking at. There was no option for bargaining if we wanted it: it was either take it or wait any number of months for a factory order. Got a base model with Perf. and Safety package (ABS/side airbags) in Shawdow. I think the only bargaining chip possible right now would be to find a similar Matrix.

If you want to bargain it down, it may be easier to wait a little while. Since the Vibe has not been out long, and its in the middle of spring when a lot of people are shopping, its going to be hard to get a good deal. Not impossible, but its no Sunfire either.Give it a few months... GM is incentive happy and eventually they will have to slap one on the Vibe. If your looking now, you may also want to point out that a similarly equipped Matrix is cheaper, and try to get the dealer to "match" the price. I dunno if it'll work, but I'd give it a shot.
