Does Anyone Have An Electrical Diagram For the Power Inv?

Post by Thisguyuknow »

Hey guys as you can see this is my first post. A little background I do not own a matrix or a vibe. My G/f owns a 04 vibe and her mom and dad own a matrix and an 06 vibe respectively. I have been wanting an inverter to power a laptop or portable dvd player or whatever in my F150 but I wanted it to be something that was permenantly affixed and cleanly mounted. I got the idea why not pull an inverter and the plug/switch from a wrecker at the bone yard and integrate them cleanly into my dash. These little cars run for ever so it took a few months for the boneyard to get one in but I finally got my hands on the parts yesterday. Does anyone have a diagram on digits that would be useful for me to reconstruct the wiring on this beast?

The inverter was under the drivers seat. Which is funny to mention because I literally tore apart the whole dash thinking that the inverter woul be behind there somewhere and probably would have been at it another hour had I not dropped a wrench under the drivers seat and saw it. Anyway what i got was the plug and 5 wires coming off the inverter and the plugs and their about 6 inches of their wiring coming off the switch and the outlet. I tried tracing the wires into the dash but they disappeared into obscurity into the main harness and I know there is alot of wiring between the switch and the inverter. I want to wired everything up to function like it did stock so if there is a relay and/ or fuse in between I want to make sure that I get those wired into the system.

TIA guys and gals!

The stock inverter is only 100W. I have occasionally thought about installing a stronger inverter, but necer did. In the Vibe, the switch in the dash controls a relay, the relay sends 12V input power to the inverter.

Attached is a wiring diagram from a Matrix, this matches whats in a Vibe. I guess the key data you need is hte connector ont he inverter, and unfortunately this diagram doesn't show the connector, but it does indicate that
Pin 1 - +12V input
Pin 4 - Ground
Pin 3 and Pin 7 are the 110VAC output. Polarity doesn't seem to matter for those, I don't think the either side of the AC output is referenced to chassis ground
