Euro Tail Lights

Post by striker1211 »

I have a 2008 and would like to get some Euro style taillights for it to make it look less like a mini-van. I know this has been discussed before but not in a while. Are there any sources for these?

If ya want it to look less like a mini van
I would remove the roof rack and get the flush mount pieces to go in it's place
Then lower it... problem solved ;)

At least the "mini-van" look is DOMESTIC :) If the 2009 tail lights would fit then I'd give you mine. They have RICE written all over them and I will be working on fabricating a clean "domestic looking" set come this winter to take their place. Keep what you have :?

Wow great idea. I definitely don't like the look of the racks. I will keep them because they could be handy but do you know the part name for the covers? I cannot find them on eBay under "vibe roof cover" or "mount". I want to de-badge my car also, is that legal (i know nobody can give legal advice but in your experience if applicable)? I am buying snow tires too so rims are also a must when i can find a good craigslist deal. Thanks for all your help.

[edit2] Finding the "Toyota Voltz" covers is impossible :(

De-badgeing is perfectly legal. Many members have done it. I personally have done a partial debadge. As for the roof rail things, search for Vibe roof caps. Like this:

Yeah, the tail light covers (or ANYTHING off a Voltz for that matter) are difficult to find'
In most cases you gotta find someone overseas to send it to you

And for the roof rack situation...
I was actually wanting to get the rack caps and take mine off,
but then go and buy a Yakima rack to take it's place.
All the functionality, and the look you WANT

Oh wow that's pricey. Perhaps I will just paint them black or wait for a junkyard find :) I'm debadging today though :) Thanks for your help guys.

Add a rear spoiler, Upper, Lower or both :) I really like the look of both, esp on the monotone cars. I only have the upper for now, but it really kinda takes away from the bubble (removed) look

Can't think of anyone off the top of my head that has both on here that you could go look at. APsychoMartyr in this thread has the midgate spoiler though if you want to see what that looks like. Maybe someone else can point to someone who has both??

And I also debadged, it makes it so much more smooth, although I added a couple back in new places :)

I have both spoilers. Check my garage for picks and a link to my Facebook gallery.

You could also go the route of many and either black out your tail lights, or put red overlays on the yellow portion to make them all red. I did the latter, and it looks great, especially compared to the stock vibes roaming around my city. Definitely different while being subtle and understated. I've seen a Yaris on youtube that had custom-made LED boards inside the tails and it looked pretty good, too, but that's too much work for me :P
