Guage Fuse

Post by mana »

On the weekend the gauge fuse went in my 2004 Vibe, got it used from Toyota on Friday. Pulled out a 15amp fuse from so I replace it with a 15. On Sunday the gauge fuse went again (15 amps) brought it back to Toyota and was told I put the wrong fuse back in, and it should have been 25 amps. I though it was supposed to be a 10 amp fuse, so why would a Toyota Mechanic be telling be its a 25 amp fuse.

you bought a used vibe from a toyota dealer, and within two days it started blowing gauge fuses?

I can think of two plausible reasons
- the tech was stupid or too lazy to look it up
- the tech was hoping putting in an overrated fuse would get you to go away without raising hell about them selling you a car that blows gauge fuses and therefore can not be driven safely

In a 2004 Vibe (or a Matrix), the gauge fuse is supposed to be 10 Amps. Inserting a higher capacity fuse is hazardous, If you car is blowing fuses, something is wrong with it, and they should fix it for you. I'd be right off pissed. Even if they do fix it, they are still forcing you to take the time and fight the runaround.
