I Did Not see any mention of replacing the timing belt, in the owners manual, for our new to us 2010 2.4L. Car has just under 48k now. I figured the schedule maintenance pages would have said something?
No timing belt used - chain driven. Chains do not specify a change interval for routine maintenance. Most should not require replacement under "normal" usage - although nothing lasts forever! I have not heard of any common issues with chains on these engines. They've been around since about 2002 - and although some earlier ones had other issues that were later addressed, this wasn't one of them from what I recall. The fact that the 2.4 had some known "history" before being put into the Vibes, compared to the "all new" 1.8 was a part of my decision to go with the 2.4. Although I'm sure I could get a little better gas mileage with a 1.8, I'm still quite happy with my choice so far.Just keep your oil changed on schedule, and I'm sure you'll do just fine.John
