No more MP3 song title appearing

Post by alex_nrv »

Hello!Well, in my Vibe 2009... with Moonson, I had already fixed an ID3 tag problem in the past, causing the MP3 song titles to appear scrambled... now all my MP3 CDs are cleaniny MP3 Tagged, but out of nowhere earlier today, my radio refuses to show any of the titles, artist and album. If I press INFO, the info is there, so the MP3 tag is read. I tried ejecting the CD and putting it back, waiting for the radio to read all the tags, but no luck. I tried another CD, still no title appearing... just a blank screen with T1... of F1... (F for folder and T for track).I didn't noticed, but maybe the radio don't even show up the station name anymore. When I get into the INFO screen, the line where the title should appear displays text, so it's not the LCD screen being burned or something. It's such a shame that you pay for an audio package and get stuck with a radio that isn't even "profesionnal"...the menus are very lame, the EQ is very lame too... and the front shape of the head unit is so weird that if you want another radio like an Alpine or Pioneer, it's awkward to install one because you're stuck with openings here and there.Has this song title display happened to anyone before?

When I bought my Vibe in 2004, the very first thing I did was upgrade the head unit. I just got a Pioneer AVH-P3300BT a couple months ago to replace the one I put in a long time ago. So I'm not much help on the factory unit. Is there a reset button anywhere on the unit? You usually have to unbend a paperclip to push it. Have you tried disconnecting the negative cable on the battery and letting the head unit reset? Other than that, I don't know without looking at it. Are you song formats right? Do any of the other CDs that worked in the past still work? Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Mine has similar problems from time to time. If I'm playing a CD it will not show the song title if I press INFO, just Track 1. It won't show radio station info either. Try and turn up the volume. Does the word VOLUME appear? Mine wouldn't; it would just show the bar and shade up or down as I raised and lowered the level. What about when you load or eject a CD. Do you get a LOADING or EJECTING?I always have to unplug the battery for a little bit. When I plug it back it back up it always fixes the problem. Try this.

Thanks for your replies! Finally, I tried several things when I got home from work, before entering the house. All your advices were dead on, though I didn't read them before trying.I messed around with many buttons and options. I admit I also hit the head unit, in case it was a bad circuit or I don't know (my ALpine in my Golf wouldn't eject from time to time, so a hard punch on the dashboard would let the mechanism engage!)...So, the song titles, albums and artists would still not show, and no radio info (radio name, song...) would show up. And I did indeed notice that VOLUME didn't show up neither!! What a joke. It was working finr 5 minutes before I noticed the problem this afternoon. So I got under the hood to check for the fuses. I checked the one saying "RAD 1"... it was the only fuse refering the the audio system. So I unpluged it, checked it.. it was not burned. I tried the radio without the fuse, the radio wouldn't come on. So I put the fuse back and try the radio: EUREKA! The time is 0:01 and the radio is on the last frequency I listened to and the INFO IS SHOWING!!The EQ settings weren't lost (though there ain't many... sadly), all the presets weren't lost, just the time, date and "auto text" in the MENU section. So you don't have to unplug the battery. I highly hate to unplug car batteries, had bad experiences (not dangerous, just scary!) with my old Golf (alarm would go on all of a sudden, a big spark would fly...!!)So just unplug the 15A fuse (RAD 1) from the fuse box under the hood. I don't know if there's a master reset I can push with a paperclip, I'll check it there's any hint of a little hole on the head unit... but I bet if there's any, it'll be to manually release a stuck CD.Thanks again guys for your quick answers! You were very quick and dead on! I looks like we all think and analyze the same way I hope this won't happen often.Oh, and Chad, you mentionned about the songs format, yes they are, the CDs in my car have been specially made for the car in MP3, and I retagged each and every songs in my computer with NO unicode ID3 tags. Unicode tags cause this radio to misread and display garbage... (I already had a thread on this... and I posted the fix, but the thread got DELETED!?!?... wow... anywyas, I couldn't find it back...)Thanks again. See you!
