04 Possible Bad CV Joint?

Post by brandnewrock8 »

My 04 has begun making a clicking sound in the right front wheel when rolling at slow speeds, and making a faster yet duller clicking noise when driving at high speeds. The noise occurs when I let off on the gas and let the car coast. If I touch the gas, or brake, the noise stops, also I do not observe any vibration or shaking, and the noise still occurs when coasting in neutral. I am thinking a bad CV joint. Any suggestions?

Sounds right. Maybe jack up that corner and take a look at both boots to confirm. The normal cause of failure is a torn boot which lets grease out and dirt/debris in.

Yeah I'm thinking that's what I will do when I get home from work tonight, thanks!
