Installed a new stereo, but there is no sound

Post by KrissiB »

Here is the scenario. My friend Aaron have the same car, a 2003 Pontiact Vibe. He has an OEM stereo, and I have a JVC radio in my car that I installed a few years ago. We were trading our stereos because I am getting rid of my car, and wanted an OEM stereo in it. Here is where the problem lies... The JVC radio works in my car, but not in Aarons car, but his radio works in both cars. When we installed the the JVC radio in Aarons car, it powered on like normal but there is no sound coming out. Any suggestions? The only difference in the stereo system in the 2 cars is Aarons car has tweeter speakers next to the front windows.

Sounds like his might have the optional stereo with external amplifier. Make sure the blue/white amp turn on wire is connected to the blue wire on the harness adapter

Most likely he does have the Monsoon system. Like VibeBear said, make sure all the wires are connected properly. If so, then it could simply be the stereo isn't pushing properly to the amp. There lies the specific wiring harness needed for the Monsoon system to control the gain. I think BlueCrush done an excellent tutorial on how to wire and adjust that particular harness. It's a Scosche (sp?) harness.
