bad relay?

I'm having an electronic problem with my 04 vibe. When I start it, my intrument light panel is on but will soon all go out. They will also go out immediately if I manually turn on my headlights?It can't be a fuse because they are on for a very short time. I was thinking there may be a relay going bad or maybe a short somewhere.Any ideas as to what this problem might be would be very helpful. Thanks,Jim

You didn't say you had tried it, so check to make sure your dimmer switch is not set for all the way dark (rotate the thumbwheel up) and let us know if that solves the problem

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was definitely it. What a relief!! I was just about to give up and tear into my dash (or have someone else do it Thought for sure there was a short somewhere. Don't know how it was turned off in the first place?This is a great forum!
