Is there a brighter reverse bulb to replace the OEM in my '10 GT? Not wanting to go with auxiliary lights, just need to see a bit better when backing up in the dark...
I feel your pain with the need for more back-up lighting. If I have the time over the winter I will be designing an entire new taillight assembly which will be 100% LED technology. I really hate the "ricer" look of our 09-10 Vibe taillights. Just my opinion though. This will take a lot of my spare time and it will likely be put off so that I can get some of the more realistic and easier mods performed. Let us know what you end up experimenting with and if it improves visibility
Ordered some "GE Nighthawk" replacements, will see how they work. Didn't go with "Silverstars" as I did not have very good luck with them as head light bulb replacements.Yeah the rear lenses are lame, I would be so much happier if they were all red with just clear lenses over reverse lights. Also, they are starting to look not so fresh - scratches.

They make a huge difference when backing up, even with tinted windows. On a bit of a side note, as soon as I have some extra cash, I will be giving the SilverStar zXe bulbs a try in the low and high beams.I absolutely love SilverStar bulbs and have always had excellent luck with them.

OK, the "GE Nighthawk" replacement bulbs were a bit of a let down. Maybe a hair brighter, but not enough to notice if you didn't know they were replaced.
I went with a HID reverse light conversion kit. http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=45499Much brighter and wider light spread that any halogen or LED light. The only thing is 4800K is a bit to white doesn't create a lot of shadow to judge distances would prefer 3800K light output in the rear.

I like the idea of swapping out the reverse lights. I was just backing out of the garage and noticed that it wasn't very bright. HIDs would be stellar but it seems like a lot of work. Hopefully a good, easy drop-in replacement is available somewhere. I'm not a big fan of Sylvanias but I may give them some thought.

The HID lamp is mounted is a soft polymer plug that easy presses into the lamp housing in place of the original lamp holder. There is the mini 15W ballast and 3 adaptor for 1156, 3156 and T-base (921) type lamps. Total install time about 15mins.
