Hi everyone, I am currently looking for a set of all season or winter tires and I noticed that the price flucuates by size. I was thinking about going to a 205/50r17 or up to a 215/60r17. I am worried about rubbing, the abs, and possible mpg loss...but maybe I'm overthinking this!!!By the way, my '04 base does not handle well in the snow, is this common?thanks.
My 04 base sucks in snow too so I am guessing its comon. The Numbers on the tire are width, % height, and rim diameter. Look online for a tire size comparison calculator and put in the different specs and see really how much things change, dia of wheel & tire, mph, etc. I wouldnt think you wan tto go to the 215/60 since it is a big difference. http://www.discounttiredirect....h.jsphttp://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp
Not sure what your stock total diameter was but my '09 with 17" stock wheels came with 215/45/17. I just put on Continental extreme contact DWS's and am very pleased. There are several tire size calculators online to compare your stock diameter to other options.
Easy answer:Take the 17's off and stuff them in the garage.Get a set of 16" steel wheels and add some meat and metal!!!Proof of how they handle snow and black ice can be seen in many of my vids! And the numerous pics floating around this site!!!
