Where is vvt filter on a 2005 base?

Can somebody tell me where the vvt filter/assembly is on a 2005 base vibe? I don't even know what it looks like, and I saw some diagrams posted in other threads, but they didn't help and I want to pull it out and check/clean it. Anybody have a picture?Also, can I pull it out and check it with oil in, or must it be done when drained for an oil change?

Thanks! This is a good diagram. I couldn't orient myself on some of the others I've seen but this one makes it obvious where it will be exactly.

Dont forget to get a new gasket as well, looks like pt #41. I thought it would come with the new filter, but it doesn't
