Aftermarket Receiver Install - Issue

Post by tretrop21 »

First post here guys, but always come here first if I have an issue. Could not find this addressed anywhere else. I have a 2003 Vibe GT with just the stock single CD radio and 6 speakers. At the recommendation of nearly everyone I talked to, I ordered my new receiver from Crutchfield. I followed the instructions and got it installed, and when I went to test it, all of the receivers operations worked (CD, tuner, etc.) but there was no sound coming out of any of my 6 speakers. I double checked the wiring harness to make sure all the colors matched and they did. Any ideas? Is the receiver I have putting out too much power for the stock speakers? Here is the receiver I have:Pioneer DEH-1300MP http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1...=5684

I had a friend with ford focus that did the same thing. Make sure the harness is correct as well. She needed a VW harness because the focus one was wrong. Besides that you need to make sure you have the remote turn-on wire connected to turn on the factory amp.

locate the remote turn on wire like he said. i had the same problem, that's what it was. your radio isn't telling the speaker amp located under the passenger seat to turn on.

And if your harness does not have the remote wire then you can use the power antenna wire. It will turn on with the car and off with the car

The factory antenna and remote turn-on use the same lead. there will be a spot on the factory harness that has 2 black wires connected to the same pin in the harness, these are the antenna and rem turn-on.
Vibe is gone and will be missed as I've gone country style
