Dog Owners

Post by MotoAce51 »

I just want to give everyone a heads-up:I bought Clutch (my dog) a bag of Purina One Beyond dog food last week. He really likes the brand and we have had no issues in the past. Anyways today we opened the bag and fed him his dinner. There seemed to be "fuzz" or "hair" in the food. I picked some out but decided to throw it out. I opened the bag again to refill his bowl. THis time bugs flew out of the bag. Its safe to say we had to take it back for an exchange. Anyways, check yor dogs food if you bought something new.

no disrespect to you about your food choice but well, IMO it's the food choice that caused your issue. You may want to consider feeding your dog a bit better food. I know most are struggling with money so I'm not saying shame on you BLA BLA BLA. Have a look here:http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/You will find the Purina One dog food a 1star food.I've never had a problem with the Fromm's dog food(5star). A 40lb bag feeds my two dogs for a month. Because of the quality of the food I am able to feed them less food. In turn saving money and they are full. I won't go in to the stool benifits but it's easier to clean up

Sometime weird stuff shows up like that in all sorts of different products. To each their own on what they choose to feed their dogs. I haven't had a problem with Purina before. My dog used to get IAMS, now she gets Kirkland (Costco) weight control.

Wow I didn't realize Purina One was a bad brand. I have a bunch of friends that foster dogs and swear by it. Its the only reason I tried it. We are using a organic healthy kind now. It even has veggies in it. Oddly enough he eats those first.

It worked alright but the ingredients are pretty awful. I looked into it and eventually settled on Canidae (5 star on that website) and eventhough it's significantly more expensive, the food lasts longer due to smaller servings, his coat is much healthier, and his 'number 2s' are a lot smaller and solid compared to on the crappy food. I think the benefits far outway any possible 'savings' you get on buying subpar food. I wouldn't feed my human family food a steady diet of fillers and byproducts, why would I feed it to my canine family? Just my 2 cents!

No McDonalds, Taco Bell? Never eat Hot Dogs or Balogna? You never eat the fat and grissel on your steak? I only bought this because after a free sample my dog liked it, the vet said its a good brand and it seemed to work well. I kind of feel like I am acused of being a bad pet owner and I really don't care of the cost. I went with what people said was good and what my dog liked. We have tried a lot of different brands and he won't eat certain types. Oh and the new brand is cheaper in cost but that site says its a 3 Star. So who knows. He doesnt eat it as much as other stuff.

That isn't what I'm saying at all. There is a huge difference between eating fast food for every meal and only eating it occasionally. Your dog (typically) eats the same food, everyday, for every meal. If you did the same with fast food I'd definitely be concerned! No one is meaning to accuse you of being a bad owner, just sharing our opinions. Take it or leave it. My dog isn't a picky eater and would eat mostly anything you put in front of him, so for me it was important to be sure it's healthy food. I have no doubt you are a good pet owner. A good pet owner wouldn't have gone onto a forum to warn other pet owners to check their dog food!
