Hey I have a 2009 Vibe GT and was wondering if anyone had any idea how much it could pull?I need it to be able to handle an rpod camper, which is Dry Hitch Weight 235 lbs. (107 kg )Unloaded Vehicle Weight 2,336 lbs. (1,060 kg )Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) 3,735 lbs. (1,694 kg )
Welcome to GenVibe!!! http://www.forestriverinc.com/...=rpodIt weighs too much.Your Vibe can tow the exact same as mine, the engine and transmission don't limit the weight. As I recall our Vibes have a towing capacity of 1500lbs and a hitch weight of 150lbs. My old tent trailer weighs somewhere around 700lbs when typically loaded, as I recall.
Welcome to the forum. You can see my rig in my signature photo. Fully loaded the trailer weighs 2,000 pounds which is technically over the manufacturers recommended USA tow rating of 1,500 pounds. However in the UK the car is tow rated at 2,200 pounds with trailer brakes. The trailer you are looking at is too heavy. The strongest hitch available for the Vibe is only rated for 250 pounds. As an experienced RVer I know that those dry weight numbers are phony, they do not include LP tanks or the battery which is commonly on the tongue. The true tongue weight of the Rpod will likely be 350 pounds empty and 450 pounds or more when loaded, I guarantee you will find your hitch pointed toward the ground after towing. You can tow with a Vibe but you need to lower your expectations.BTW my Vibe has 21,000 miles on it now and about 6,000 of those miles are towing miles.
