transmission speed sensor

Hello... I have a base model 2003 Pontiac vibe. When I drive in wet weather the "service engine soon" light comes on. amd the transmission slips. The computer indicates a problem with the speed sensor. Does anyone know if it is OK (or not OK) to spray the speed sensor with a sealent to help keep the moisture out?

I tried various spray sealents in work,cause I get em for free, nothen beats good old grease
