So Jay-Z and Kanye West basically destroyed a German Maybach worth $373,000 for a music video... I'm not into the music but I had to watch and see what they did to the car... What do you all think?http://new.music.yahoo.com/blo...rity/
I guess if you have the money to do it, I guess there's no reason NOT to just waist an expensive car. Why not just take the $300,000+ and donate the cash to charity?
I encounter this all the time in the world of Air Cooled VW's. People taking pristine examples of classic VW's and destroying them with modifications and plain stupid actions.Bottom Line....If it is yours and you've got the cash, you are entitled to do with it as you desire.Dave
Not a very good song, but then Jay-Z and Kanye are two of my least-favorite artists in the rap game... way overrated and don't speak about anything worthwhile. They could have at least created something mad maxx and interesting out of something else it, doesn't even make sense to do that to a Maybach. Take a normal car and make it badass, don't take a badass car and kill it!
I do not know if I want to watch it. I get upset when the "Top Gear" dudes wreck what they consider junkers. Heck, I get a little pit in my stomach when I think of all the perfectly good trucks "cash for clunkers" destroyed. Now that was inflationary.
In a "ritzy" municipality (Bexley) near us you cannot buy a home and demolish it to build a new one without approval from an appointed board. A recent controversy involved a home that in my view had no particular redeeming architectural or other historical value. The board denied the demolition permit - the City Council overruled the board, half the board then resigned. In my view unless it is something like the birthplace of a president etc. if you own it you ought to be able to tear it down and start over. The tax value of the replacement home would have been double and architecturally consistent with the neighborhood. I predict a referendum is imminent. If those do gooders are so enamored with that property they can chip in and buy it. Then resell it to someone who agrees not to tear it down.

The video version my buddy sent me had a portion at the end explaining an auction they were having, with all proceeds going to a children's charity, I believe. Still doesn't take the car destruction cringe-factor away, but I do like the Otis Redding usage.
