Old Tachometer

Post by ParknVibe »

I have a old tachometer / volt/ amp/ ohm digital meter that uses a magnetic field pickup that is placed around the sparkplug wire to read the engine RPM speed on its display. How can I still use this on the newer cars that do not have the spack wires in view?

You wrap it around the short boot that's between the coil and the plug!

New cars don't have spark plug wires. Each spark plug has it's own coil mounted directly on top of the spark plug. You go purchase new diagnosis equipment. Most likely you already own the new equipment. A laptop computer. Purchase the OBDII wire interfaces and download software that does the task you desire.Simply plug your laptop (the iPod, or iPhone has apps available to read engine info) into your OBD II port under the steering wheel and get all the information you desire!Dave
