Smaller pics

Post by Speedqueen »

Probably a really stupid question. Never really had to do it before. How do I make my pics saved to my hard drive smaller so I can post them? I take my pics at high resolution. ThanksS.

i assume you are shooting raw(people shoot in other types, that's crazy) and on your computer you have some sort of photo editing software such as GIMP, photoshop, or whatever..when shooting raw the quickest way to lower the image file size is to save it as a .jpg. from there you can also lower the image quality down which can shrink the file size also.or do you mean to change the image dimensions so when you post them they don't take up the entire screen and everything else in the universe? ;D
None. Vibe is gone.

Sometimes you can shrink the picture down in MS paint as well. When the dimensions are dropped the size is. I don't know if it helps.

My pictures are normally enormous. On my 1280x800 screen, they're massive and detailed. I have to shrink and cut them in order to use them for my desktop picture. But all I do before I post them is upload them to Photobucket and, they are automatically resized.

I use Microsoft Digital Image Pro and is it easy as can be to resize photos. Lots of size choices and it even renames them for you.Dave

Sometimes I'll use something more powerful, but more often I use IrfanView. Once you've installed the software, you can copy the runtime to another computer and it still runs, without having to install it, if you want to put it on a computer you can't install software on.
