Less transmission flare 18k Miles /25k Km club

Post by cq358 »

Does anybody feel when your 09-10 vibe with 5 speed automatic will have less gear hunting/downshift flare when your car hitting 18 000miles ?When the car was new, it tends to have shift like a "rubber band" when trying to beat the yellow light (it wind up for 2 second before it really put itselfinto the correct gear). Now as the car ages, it seems the transmission shift more accurate and less wind up than before..Anybody feel that?

I know what your talking about, on other cars. Perhaps the computer is "learning" or just a break in period of the tranny. Maybe you become adjusted to it. On my matrix it took me some time to learn how to drive it less than 40mph going up and down hills. It would upshift and lug then downshift and rev over 3K. It has become 2nd nature to me now.

I was checking for play with the drive shaft and the differential with both tires off and i can hear duplicate the back lash/clunk noise when the transmission downshift to first gear.I am wondering how much diff play is considered as normal?I do hear clunk noise when the car coast to a stop when the 5 spd auto down shift to first.
