2009 AWD Brake Pedal Popping

Post by jason2483 »

My brake pedal is driving me nuts. Every time I push it in, the pedal pops. I took it to the dealer and they said that's "normal". Is that true? I've put 25k miles on this car now and I loathe the brake and gas pedal. Gas is way too sensitive and the full range of pedal is within just a .5 inch of travel so it goes wot with very little pressure. Anywho. Is the popping brake really normal?

No, it's not. Might want to bleed the brakes. Is the abs light on or does the traction control light flash when this happens?

The popping (both from audible and tactile input) seems to be coming from inside the cabin. It kind of feels like the end of the master cylinder sliding on the post of the brake pedal. (Assuming that is the arrangement). There is a bit of play in the pedal, but from what I can tell that is part is normal. But there are otherwise no warning lights or issues stopping of any kind.

Pedal Popping:1.Are you referring to the sudden sink in sensation of the brake pedal?2. popping noise sounded when your car go from reverse and forward?3. Or you feel your brake is grabby?Causes:slider pins at your calipers are sticky.gunk build up at your brake pads contact points. All those symptoms can be corrected by having brake service which should cover by your 3 years bumper to bumper warranty.

I think you are correct, the front brakes get shimmy when you exiting the hwy. This occurs when you drive on highway for a long distance like 3+ hours. You feel your brake pedal are vibrating. I have the same problem when i going downhill quickly at Sunshine Road at Banff. The brake to have burnt rubber smell at the foot of the hill. The rotor has the purple glaze " overheated".
