Removing Decals

Whats the best way at approaching to remove the grafxwerks arrow-head inlays? They are all chipped and falling apart and look like crap. I was going to just try to pull them off, but I expect left over goo. Any special tricks to getting them off?

Borrow your girlfriends overpowered hair dryer! A sharp knife wouldn't hurt either!

a razor blade usually does the trick and any left over goo can be removed with your hand or goo gone

If they are on glass, just take a razor blade and scrape them off. If they are on paint, heat them up with a blow dryer and then peel them off. Make sure to get all the residue off too.

They have stuff at the autoparts stores called "Bumper Sticker Remover" it works great. Spray it on the sticker and let it sit. Then slowly peal it off. Add more if you see goo left behind. I did it on my motorcycle and works great. I know a few people all with great results...

As others have said Ethan, your best bet would be heating them up with a blow dryer and then carefully pulling an edge up with your fingernail. I personally wouldn't use anything sharp because you could possibly end up scratching the badge itself which would look just as bad as the beat up overlays. With a vinyl decal like that there shouldn't really be much, if any, resiude left over. WD 40 works great for removing adhesive and won't harm the paint, badges, etc.This is exactly why I chose not to get the arrowhead overlays. I figured they wouldn't last long, especially the front one.

Thanks all for the advice.. I got bored earlier and just started picking at them and they came off pretty easy.. not much residue.. I'll finish taking off any when I wash the car this weekend. The front overlay was the worst, the wheels not too bad, and the rear was fine.. but the rear also doesn't see bug/rocks hitting them at 80mph either. I probably wouldn't recommend them. I really liked the blacked out overlays.. maybe painting them would be better!

It's not surprising that the front one took a beating, but I am rather surprised that the ones on the wheels stayed on seeing as they're so small. In any case, glad you got them off Ethan .
