New Member - 2007 Pontiac Vibe

Post by Beer Belly »

My wife and I have been a Vibe owner since 2007. We use it mostly for camping and fishing in Northern & Southern Ontario. I haven't done any modifications to it yet. If anything, I would be looking to increase HP slightly because I tow a boat and trailer package that totals about 1000lbs. If you have any suggestions regarding camping, fishing or Vibe upgrades feel free to PM me.Cheers and enjoy the ride!

I can try hopefully this weekend, my car would need a good wash and waxing first, the boat is very old and rough looking. Blue and white fiberglass and from the 60's. Motor is from the 60's as well. But it gets us out onto the water where the fish are!

i love the look of the older boat motors. as for a camping tip, i haven't looked into it myself, but have you seen the tents that secure around a car's hatch area? not sure if one is made for the Vibe or not.as for fishing, just leave the gear in the towed boat! lol

I seen the tents, they SAY that they will fit a Vibe but they also fit much larger vehicles so i'm thinking it would probably be a "loose" fit.

I will try to get a picture of the vibe and our "ancient" boat but only if I manage to give them a good washing this weekend. Thanks for all the welcomes!

Well even though I didn't get a chance to wash the car, I still managed to get a pic of the boat and Vibe. The boat and motor are 1960's era...enjoy.

Very nice! Is there a added on trim to the taillights, or just the way the light is hitting the edges? Might that be an old Johnson outboard? JR

Welcome, nice Abyss! I grew up just across the lake from you in Niagara county, USA. One of the best vacations I can remember as a kid was a week we spent at Lake Haliburton! A ton of weekend camping at Sherkston Shores as well... LOL!

Yes it is added trim, picked up a roll of chrome looking trim from Canadian Tire and did the taillights and around the side mirrors. Turned out not bad for only $15. Yes, the outboard is an Evinrude (same as Johnson).Camogirl, thanks, my wife and I were hoping to wash and wax it so it would have looked alot better, but had too many things to do this weekend.Cheers all!

Well this May long weekend my wife and I will be towing this boat along with all our fishing gear, clothes and our dog 300 miles from Southern Ontario to Northern Ontario. Gonna be a great weekend with lots of fishing. Any suggestions while towing all this weight for a long distance? Maybe take a few extra pit stops?

Pit stops??? The car will be fine. It's only 5 or so hours, you shouldn't have to stop at all... although the Wife and Dog may disagree....

I like straight traveling, unfortunately my wife and dog need at least 1 pit stop. I traveled that distance before with the boat and gear but I wasn't sure if it was rough on the transmission or not. Passengers, boat and gear definitely add-up to (or surpass) the Vibes "Recommended Towing Capacity". I'm sure it'll be fine, but maybe someone here has had towing problems.
