My 05 Vibe didn't come with a security shade. I read on the forums here of folks making their own hard covers. I really didn't want to put in that much effort for now, but needed some kind of facade. So I bought two curtain tension rods and a room darkening curtain; total spend was under $15. I think it works for now, and it doesn't look that unappealing. I've always believed that the more you cover up the higher the chance of getting broken into.Some years ago I worked on the loading dock that sent stuff to Walmart. There was a high level of theft from the pallets that contained electronics. The shipper switched over to using black stretch wrap. The theft level increased. Now you couldn't see if there were any missing boxes. Even to the point that whole pallets would go missing.

But if you have, say, some hug subs and amps than it may be smart to have a cargo cover.

I think most are looking for the smash and grab of items in plain sight. I've never had a hatchback, so I am not sure what to expect. I know this, that thieves have simply smashed the window to get at the items in my wife's SUV twice now.Thanks star, but I think I need to iron the wrinkles out for a more smooth look. Back in the early 90s I had an entry level Alpine tape deck / stereo in my 86 Dodge Colt.One day I got back to the car, it was in the college parking lot after my college class and it was gone. Did a mistake of letting about half an inch of my driver side window open for air...they forced down the window.Maybe the well in sight brand name was tempting; even if it was not the expensive model.So I guess if you have anything of value in sight better to try to cover it.Don't tempt the devil by letting a 1000$ sound system in plain sight.
