I understand the concept of a GT Vibe, but what is the purpose of the AWD Vibe? Also why doesn't it come in Automatic? Sorry for the stupid question...
Salsa (2-tone) Base Automatic Vibe with Moontune package
The same reason alot of people buy 4x4's. They like the AWD capabilities
03, Abyss monotone GT, 6 disk changer, moon and tunes, Cargo mat/nets, power package, side airbags, AEM Short Ram Intake, Borla exhaust , 35% tint all around, F1 strut tower brace, debadged, 17" Excel rims w/ federal ss595 tires.
The purpose of the AWD Vibe is pretty much the same as any AWD option... increased traction and control on slippery road surfaces. The Vibe AWD is not designed or intended to be an off-roader.Vibe AWD is ONLY available with automatic transmission. I don't know why. The Vibe GT is ONLY available with a 6-speed manual. Mostly because it appeals to performance-minded drivers, but I've also heard that the automatic transmission can't handle the torque of the more powerful engine at high RPM.

I just got a VIBE AWD. I live in the Chicago area and wanted a car with added traction in the winter when I drive before the streets are plowed. It seems like the perfect set up for me -- smaller vehicle, great use of space, (hopefully) great winter traction, fun to drive.

YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Believe me, I know how daunting the idea of driving standard is. I used to be there myself. But believe me once you learn how to do it, it will become second nature.
