i recently traded my 2006 vibe for the newer looking 2010 with 32,000 miles on it. the 2010 was part of a lease/rental fleet. at 30 mph my transmission shifts back and forth for the proper gear causing a slight lunge followed by a hesitation. also when climbing the cumberland plateau at interstate speeds it downshifts and suddenly upshifts again, only to suddenly be followed by another downshift, etc.( i think you get the picture). this will continue all the way to the top of the plateau. what a pain in the...! i took it to the friendly "use to be pontiac dealer". technician test drives and experiences the same problem. he calls the gm engineering wizards and they state," vehicle shifting as designed". so he sends me on my merry way saying,"enjoy your new car!" i can't believe this is normal, but i haven't been able to find any posts with others having the same problem. any help out there and maybe a phone # to gm to file a complaint? if no help, anyone out there care to buy a beautiful 2010 vibe? THANKS!!!
Try turning off the overdrive.... or see if you can do a straight tradeover for a Vibe with the proper transmission... and a clutch!!!There are numbers out there to call look on the back of your reciept or try the dealer website or call GM directly.
The Toyota Corolla and Matrix transmissions are sometimes describes as: * 4-Speed Electronically Controlled Adaptive Automatic Transmission With Overdrive * Adaptive Automatic TransmissionMaybe there is a way to reset it, possibly by disconnecting battery for a few minutes or a dealer being able to reset with scanner through obd2 or a certain start procedure that wipes the memory with cycling on and off the ignition while doing some other procedure such as depressing accelerator to the floor in a certain sequence like some older VW's and Volvo's.Changing driving habits and just driving for a while might solve it too.Bad plugs and wires can sometimes cause shifting and hunting problems on older cars, but these new setups (are we direct ignition coil on plug with four individual coils? I have not even looked yet) I do not know. Keep in mind that adaptive strategy is used to control this transmission and the learned adapts must be reset to avoid damage to the transmission after a transmission overhaul or valve body replacement. Remember that the reset procedure will reset all of the ECM learned adapts, not just the transmission adapts. The Toyota factory scanner is capable of resetting the ECM adapts. Resetting the adapts should be followed by performing a re-learn procedure. "...
i'll be out of town for 2 weeks, but will try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes when i return. if that doesn't work, i'll give 1 of the other ideas a shot. thanks for your help!
