There sure are a lot of Vibes around these parts

Post by vit »

Almost every day I am surprised at how many Vibes I see in may daily commute. I live about 30 miles north of Milwaukee and drive into the city for work. Is there any data as far as sales numbers by region, or is this just normal everywhere? Obviously, most are the older ones - very few '09-'10. Not too many Matrix's either...

I don't see too many around here, and when I do, they are not from my area. there are only two that I know of in my county... and the owner of the other one tried to sell it to me when she heard I was looking for one. It was too new for me would be interesting to know those figures tho. I think I'll go up to the courthouse sometime and ask if they can look up car type per county.. and if they can tell me that info.

I posted this before about my uncle but being from the North East/Upper Mid-west and basically 60+ age generation. They see it as a GM American made car. It broke his heart when I told him it's basically a Toyota Matrix. This man has never owned a foreign car in his life.

rmckinjr, it may have been mostly designed by a Japanese company, but it was built in the US, by US workers (minus a few drivetrain components). It's probably more "American" (in terms of where the dollars end up) than most US brand cars that are built in Mexico or Canada.

Ask him about the Chevy Aveo. See what he thinks of it. Then tell him that it was built in Korea, as a Daewoo. I felt the same at first about the Vibe, but it was built in America, and is under an American nameplate, which is really what matters. It just happens to have components by a Japanese company.

I see a ton of Vibes where I live (Eastern Iowa). I try to wave at everyone but I have yet to get a wave back. I guess not everyone in this region is as excited about their Vibes as I am. My brother and I have also noticed a lot more Azteks out and about than normal. I used to think they were unattractive but their unique appearance is starting to grown on me a bit.

There are probably some states where Vibes were more popular and sold in larger numbers. Any time I'm out, whether it's a commute to work or a trip into town, I meet up with a Vibe or two or more. Lots of them must have been bought by Mainiacs. I can't find the final production number for Vibes from 2003 to 2010 (it's floating around somewhere in this forum), but quite a few were built and sold during the period. Vibes seem to be very well represented on the roads of southern Maine.

My mom and I typically see at least one whenever we're out anywhere together or alone. We always give them the "V" for Vibe, but never get any back . Around us it's mostly '03-'08 Vibes. Every once in a great while we'll see an '09/'10, but they're usually Bases. Although, we have both encountered our twins on at least one occasion. We are also always looking for "Vibe love" photo ops whenever we're out .

Yesterday on the way home from work - Vibes were everywhere. Had to be over a dozen, only two of them were gen2.

I tend to see more Matrix than Vibe, there are like 2 or 3 just in our underground garage. But today, it was nice to come across a Neptune 1st generation vibe just like mine

There are a few roaming the area around me, several of which are silver, like mine. So I'll be trying my best to make some attractive visual differences to make mine stand out, since eventually I want my aero mods to be "hidden." I see a whole lot more Vibes than Matrices around, and have almost never seen a 2nd generation Matrix. But while driving to Iowa, I saw a TON of Vibes around, almost no Toyotas in general. Not even a Camry.

Not many here really. Well, there are several first generation Vibes, second generation is rare. Second generation GT is REALLY rare! So I'm almost one of a kind here in town

Not many GTs at all.Ya know, I have honestly never seen a Vibe GT in person. I have seen a Matrix XRS out there before, but no Vibe GTs. And also, no first generation AWD Vibes or Matrix, other than Applejuice's. Just base Vibes and some Matrix XR. But I have seen some AWD second-gens around, as characterized by their roof racks. I see 09-10 GTs on Craigslist occasionally, but Craig isn't selling them near me. Mostly just the 1.8 base Vibes, or the AWD ones.
