Woohoo, that really went well! Thanks to everyone who came, and especially to Joseph Pontiac for hosting it. I learned a lot and met a ton of cool people. I'm uploading my pictures into my gallery, everyone's welcome to check them out. Go to http://howstuffworks.rtor.net/ and click the Vehicles album. If anyone else with pics from the meet would like me to host them on the howstuffworks gallery, please send a private message and I'll create a sub-login so you can upload them.
It was a great time. I would also like to thank Joseph Pontiac for clearing an area for our meet. Thanks to GM for not one but two s/c vibes. Thanks to Michigan and out of state members for showing up. Like (myself) said, it was a kick (removed) meet and look forward for more.

BOY OH BOY!!!!!!! What a splendid time for all. It was great!!It was so good to meet all the GenVibe people from Michigan and other states. Everyone was so friendly and what a turn out.Hat's off to Joseph Pontiac for their kindness and warm welcome. And a big THANKS to the Pontiac Vibe rep that was there and talked to everyone and listened to their concerns. It was a day well spent and can't wait until the next meet. Thanks Raserman and TritonGT for putting this together. IT WAS TRULY A PLEASURE TO MEET EACH AND EVERYONE !!! James Stewart (Vibe)
quote:how was the S/C??Both of the S/C's they had there were automatics, so it's difficult for me to compare that to a base auto because I've got a 5-speed, but it went pretty well. It's power delivery is rather linear as compared to a GT's "kick in" at 6K, but overall, I'd say it's pretty close to the GT.Maybe one of the members that drives an auto could give a better opinion. The Meet was a blast!. If other areas are thinking about organizing one of these, DO IT!Carlquote:Jeeeeezzzzzzz... I wanna S/C now... From what I heard, give it about 3 weeks.
The meet was great !!!! Had a blast and saw lot of cool things when i was out their. The only thing that suxed was on the way home i got a rock chip in the front window O well i get a new windsheild.john
drove 550 miles and would liketo thank nsimkins ,rasermon and ,cohocarl forbeing the only ones to give me, my wife and my 3 mth olda welcome to the michigan meetthank you gm guys, and joseph pontiac for allowing use to comedid not get i ride in the s/c vibe but oh well
Wow, looks like it was a lot of fun. If I wasn't clear out here in the middle of nowhere I might have tried to make it. I'd love to do something like that here, but with only three Montana members and only two of us active, I doubt it'll happen. Great pictures though. Glad it turned out well!!
Just got back myself.. record time again... hehe. Please pray for all the bugs that lost their lives on my front end and windshield.I had a blast.. everyone that attended was great and more than friendly, especially our meet organizers! As well, BIG THANKS to the GM Reps (you know who you are ), our GenVibe coordinators, and Joseph Pontiac. In regards to cohocarl's request from a base auto, man, do I EVER wish I could have that S/C... ABSOLUTELY a difference in performance. Getting on the entrance ramp to 23 (same route as the S/C test drives) I could tell what I was missing.... lacking the consistent pull I got from the S/C. Gotta save my money, plain and simple. Expect a new article on the main page once I get the whole slew of pics gathered and an article written.Just goes to show you that GenVibe is a world class community.
I'm jealous! I wish I had been able to come, but it was too far for me. Hey you Ontario people we should try for an Eastern Ontario type meet sometime! (Toronto is too far for me as well). Unfortunately I don't possess the kind of organizational skills required for organizing such an event. Glad you all enjoyed yourselves! I would have liked to meet GenVibers!

I'm home and in one piece... was some pretty nasty weather leaving Michigan and getting into Ohio! None the less, I have to agree with all the above posts and save you the grief of me typing it all again. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and checking out their rides and dinner wasn't too bad either (but how long does it really take to cook a steak?). My hat's off to everyone involved and yes, GenVibe is WORLD CLASS. Can't wait for another meet (hint, hint... OHIO). Did I mention I have a slight sunburn??? ouch!S/C anyone?... I'll take two!

I also had a great time at the meet, but am very sorry I didn't extend a welcome to the young couple with their baby in the stroller. On the other hand, most folks didn't talk with me either. It looked to me as though most folks didn't do that with other folks. It's shyness, you know. Many of us are that way, so please don't anyone hold this against us. I did meet many of you though. That was because you approached me - and I thank you for it.As for the supercharged Vibe: I thought it was okay. Although I was considering having it installed on my Vibe... after experiencing it first-hand... nope. No way, in my opinion, is it worth $3,000.Sorry.Nice meeting you guys and gals! Thanks!
quote:***Drool***how was the S/C??Jeeeeezzzzzzz... I wanna S/C now... I'm going to have to agree with Cohocarl. It was a little hard to compare the supercharged Vibe to my own for several reasons.1. I wasn't driving it2. It was an auto3. There were 4 people in the car (which slows it down a lot)I hate to say it, but I wasn't all that impressed. I also have to qualify that by saying that when I was shopping for my Vibe I testdrove an auto base and thought it was a dog by comparison to the stick. I will have to test drive (as in I actually get behind the wheel) of a supercharged manual to get a good feeling. Also, don't forget changing pulleys and upping boost some more.On that note, I have some pictures or the supercharged Vibe which I have to seriously reduce the resolution of before I post if anyone wants to see more...honestly you won't see much more than you've already seen here on genvibe.

This is when we took over Applebee's after the meetP.S. Nick, anyone, how do you post multiple pics in one message? How do you get the picture to appear inline? I'd like to actually know (not just have you fix it). Thanks.

Well, I want everyone to know....while everyone was at the meet, I was working! (and I wanted to go so bad) Anyways, hope everyone had fun! AN O-H-I-O NEXT!
‘03 Vibe with 317k and still going.............................
I had a GREAT time at the meet I wish i did not have to leave so early so I could have gone out to dinner- But on the other hand I won a bunch of stuff at the other car show I went to - It was Great to meet everyone! I hope we have another one sometime- Thanks to Everyone that hepled set it up I had a good timeAnd as to the super charger I have a base auto- I think it was nice- But I do not think it was 3 grand nice- It did make our not so quick vibe a lil quicker but I am not sure If I will be willing to pay 3 g's for it

Hey everyone, I have to agree that it was a good time yesterday. I met some interesting people and saw some nice cars. I think GM made a bad move bringing an automatic supercharged vibe, especially if they were trying to sell us on it. Oh well, I'll probably still get it because my car is a stick, so I'm sure its a lot different. Hopefully next time there's a meet, I'll have more done to my vibe. Here's another pic of the line up at Applebees. Sorry to Toasted7, I think that was your car at the end of the line that I couldn't fit into the pic.
Great shot!!!! BTW--My Vibe is the one facing directly forward parked all by its little lonesome. I still haven't gotten over this meet. ABSOLUTLY OUTSTANDING!!!!James (Vibe)
Not a big deal since my car's not in the pic... if that red truck wasn't parked there then we would would have had a solid line of Vibes. Next meet I think we all need to find a BIG empty parking lot and park all the Vibes in a V shape and get some pics of that (we should have done that in the K-mart parking lot behind Applebee's... oh well, that's my suggestion for next time).

I think the smooth power delivery of the supercharger and the soft automatic shifts made the acceleration deceiving. I was impressed when I saw a Vibe GT disappear in the mirror when merging onto US-23, and I know he was trying to keep up. I was even more impressed when I stepped into my base 5spd and tried to merge onto US-23. From what I saw I would say S/C Auto=Vibe GT with a good driver working it as hard as possible. Anything less and the S/C Auto would take it. I wasn't originally thinking of getting the supercharger since I hardly drive the vibe, but now I'm rethinking. I wish I could have stayed around longer and relaxed a bit more but I had to drive 750 miles after the meet to northern MN. Glad to see there was such a good turn out!!

A little bit of added information gained from the meet....Speaking with Jeff Strausser - Vibe Brand Quality Manager (me being the Vibe freak like many others, I wish I had his job.. ) he did reaffirm that he frequents the forums to gain perspective on problems, recommendations, and opinions on all aspects of the Vibe and presents them to the right people to get the ball rolling to have them addressed. Unfortunately for GM/legal purposes, he's not allowed to post or initiate contact with members.I am able to get in contact with him so if you are having any serious problems that cannot be handled by the dealer and Pontiac Assistance, let me know and I can get ahold of him. He also recommended that we start a new thread on the top 10 dislikes/recommended changes of the Vibe (at this time). Check out the new discussion here:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4674Overall, it was really nice to see the members mods in person and see just how they did the work. All the vehicles that attended looked great (whether stock or modded)!ALSO, any member that took pics of the meet and have them ready to e-mail, send them over to me as I would like to get a gallery together to post on the main GenVibe.com site. nick@twocom.com
Woo!860 miles roundtrip - and well worth it!Was an extreme pleasure meeting everyone, and I really don't know what else to say! ^_^I made a small (500 megabyte) video of the drive up there that Cathy, John Samp and I made on Friday. The video is set to Linkin Park's "Faint" and is in 640x480 resolution. It's a quicktime MOVIE (.mov) format, and I'm still messing with the final cuts of it. I'll probably be able to send out a few CDs with the video and possible video of the Rally itself in the near future. I'll make a thread later on to discuss it, but just letting everyone know that I will have pics for the future! :DExpect a new signature image too, I made it in the hotel after the Vibe Rally! Thanks again to everyone, it was truely a blast! So .... when's the next one?
Sounds like you guys had a great meet. The reviews seem a little mixed on the SC. Wish I could have been there! I saw a TRD Matrix last week at a Toyota show with the SC but it was for show only. Some of you said it's not worth 3 grand. Is that the price they quoted you guys or are you assuming that's the price? Did they give you a release date? Thanks for the info!

I bet if we convert it to .wmv, we could get it alot smaller file size so one of us could post it on our personal web page.Nice meeting you GEO. I think it was really nice that some of you came a long way for the meet. Glad you could make it.
our pics will be up sometime tomorrow...got some good ones. It was great meeting everyone! Sorry to the couple who had the baby...we didn't realize you were owners! Aside from th sunburn, we had a great time.
It sounds like a great time, but a little too far for us california people, maybe ther will be a meet at the nuumco..plant some day I am sorry that the SC did not arrive in the 5spd, because it would have displayed the most powere that way....but the real fun would have been meeting the faces of people that I post after but if I ever do make it to a meet...I have a feeling that a few people will want to see what the vibe is like Turbocharged [IMG][/IMG] I hope I can see the video thing of your meet...and ...how many vibe people were there?????

quote:and ...how many vibe people were there?????I believe we estimated total attendance roughly around 30 Vibes and 1 Matrix. Some members came and went throughout the day so the number of vehicles at one time fluctuated a little. We also had a few non-GenVibers from the area show up since they had word of the meet from Joseph Pontiac. Plus, visitors to the dealership that day also stopped to look around as well. We should gain a few new members to GenVibe from the meet.
Yep-Me too--I enjoyed talking to "MYSELF". He is into electronics and is a very great person and really made a hit with us Vibe owners. I enjoyed seeing the difference between his Matrix and my Vibe. James
I didn't much talk with any of you, but when this guy pulled up and parked his Matrix alongside our Vibes I was thinking to myself, "This guy has guts!" So I introduced myself to this guy who was "Myself!" Loved it! Yes, he is quite an interesting guy. By checking out his Matrix, I learned that the only interior difference between his Matrix and our Vibes is the design in the center of the steering wheel. Thanks, Myself, for clueing me in.
I feel bad that I only got into real conversations with about half of you Next time I'll have to make a check-list of everyone who is attending and make sure to check it off as I talk to everyone I guess the only way to solve this is to have another meet in August (mb a little closer to Wisconsin, heehee) so I can properly meet everyone who I missed on Saturday!Oh, and silverawd26: You want some 1337 socks, eh? http://www.sockguy.com/It doesn't get anymore stylin' than Sock-Guy socks! (Highly recommended by the UW Cycling team )
quote:I feel bad that I only got into real conversations with about half of you Thanks for making the trip. Did little geo enjoy himself at the meet? CaCathy13 did a wonderful job on the placards for our vibes. Thanks again! The next time I will make name tags with your avatar on it. With that everyone will know who you are when walking around and help members strike up a conversation.

Had a wonderful time. Especially meeting Triton and Pablo..... My favorite part of the meet was getting the information on the Leather Seats and actually seeing them in one..... That will definately be my next mod.
Sorry I didn't show up. I know I said I'd be there but I had some errands to run Saturday morning. I figured I'd be home by 12 so I could get there around 1:30pm. With the infamous Michigan construction/traffic I didn't make it home until after 2pm! I checked weather.com before I left and it looked like there was a huge storm heading right for the meet, so I decided to skip it. Sounds like it as a blast. Maybe next time...

What a great thread! I am really happy to see that so many people enjoyed the meet. Where do I begin?First I want to apologize to stkos79, his wife and his child for not coming up and personally introducing myself and welcoming him. I had all the information about everyone coming and I was actually wondering where they were. I did see the stroller once or twice and I honestly thought it was someone who was taking a look at what was going on. I hope this doesn't discourage them from going to another Vibe meet. Once again, I'm very sorry.Next, I want to thank Joseph Pontiac for their hospitality and Jeff from GM for the insight and help that he offered with our concerns. He also brought some pretty cool freebies. The supercharged Vibes were awesome to see and ride in.I also want to thank rasermon and silverawd26 for all the help and suggestions with coordinating this meet. All I can say is, "We did it!!!" A special thanks goes to Nick for getting in good with Jeff. We know now that we have a direct connection with someone at GM directly involved with the Vibe and TRD. I also want to thank him for the idea on wheels. Those are awesome Nick! Thanks to Cathy and Mike for their contribution with the placards and their company. Thanks to ilquikgtx for the door handle swap. Thanks to mwebb for the stereo ideas. Thanks to Geo for the great conversations and idea exchages. Thanks to "myself" for trading door handles. Thanks to yank_dini for getting the information about the leather interior. And just on big thank you to everyone who came. I know I don't have everyone listed here, but you know who you are. Everyone made this meet a big success. I look forward to next year.
