I changed my wheel /tire circumferance to hit boost quicker

Post by Faultline »

mY turbo set up pulls pretty well btween 3500rpms and 6500rpms.It cost over 3k, so I am broke and have stock steelies,..rather than Paying 800 for a tire/wheel pachage, i am optiong for new tires and lowereing spring for around the same price....I need a stiffer suspension to go withe stickier tiires and a turbo...I just put on 215/40/16s.. this chngeges my circle from roughly 78"to 72"..thats 12ft of distance from the formerly 13ft...given same rotations...so after the ride home...I believe I hit boost quicker..which really speed up acceleration...I feel faster ...but my odometer I believe is lying to me ...so it is just feel...so now my gears ar shorter i guess...but ther is plenty left at the high end...Imagine...6krpms in 5th gear...so.....any thoughts to confirm or refute this??????????

changing to a smaller tire will lower the gearing and change the speedometer i think tirerack.com calculator will tell you the percentage of speedometer change.and somehere out there is a gearing calculator. but i would think you would have less traction with smaller tires (less contact patch) i guess its personal preference but wider tires just seem better.
look my sniggies, i had a strizz-oke in my brizz-ain okay, you know what im saying. so i cant move all good. but thanks for mentioning that .thank you very much.athf4evr. click here! you know you want to!!!

I did not think about that...the contact tire patch...being smaller..but I guess it would be...but.....the tires are slightly widr than before..from 205 to 215..which would give a little more tire contact....It is just that it dawned on me , that the sooner I get to the 4k revs...then,...mor power for me...no matter what! so.,besides traction...I did this to get into boost sooner......and btw the tires are kuhmo estes 712..tks for the reply satur9
