I noticed today that while running I can take the key out of the ignition cylinder with ease. I know its not normal bit want to see if others have had the same issue. Thanks.
Hmm. Nope not mine. What year do you have?actully never had a car do that, in laws aztec has the opposite problem. Issue with the wiring in the shifter, always thinks its in drive and won't let the key out
Ha... I had a '80 Caprice that I could insert or remove the ignition key in any position for about 200,000 miles.Funny thing was that I could not turn the switch unless the key was inserted. The key was worn smoother than a baby's (removed). As to your problem .... what is the condition of the "teeth" of the key?

its an 03 but considered an 04 and the key is kinda of worn a bit. but yea its needed to actual turn it initially but after that you can remove it in any position. huh. well its convenient to where if i have the car running and need to get something from the house i can just pull it out and use the keys with out shutting it down. but i just hope it doesnt go out anytime soon.
