Hood latch issues

Post by Wolfman213 »

I've noticed lately that my hood is not wanting to latch properly when I shut it. I have adjusted the rubber bump stops on the side to the point where it feels like they don't have much more room to move. When I drop the hood, it gets into the safety latch, but not completely latched. It just won't go any further till I adjust the bump stops. Has anyone else has issues like this? Should I soak the latch in something? If so, would lithium be better than WD-40? Thought about just replacing the whole latching mechanism, but that may be more of a pain than it's worth.

Is your interior release handle going back fully after you pull it to open the hood? The cable may need lubrication or the part the cable moves on the latch may need lubrication. I'd start by looking that the little latch lever in the hole moves and returns promptly when the hook release lever is pulled by a helper.Dave

The interior returns to normal, I'll check the cable at the latch though. That could possibly be it since I drop the hood a couple times which may be releasing it and then it latching.
