power door locks locking on their own.

Post by RCARLTON12 »

My wife called me today and wanted to know if the power door locks should be locking by theirself. She luckily had the keys and remote inher hands outside of the VIBE when she heard the doorslock , not only one but three times.I asked her if she might have hit the button and she said no. Has anyone else had this happen?

quote:Do you have the security package? If so, this will happenb. They lock on their own if you unlock the vehicle and do not get in within 10-15 seconds. Actually, it's the power package that does that, not the security package. I don't have the security package, but I do have power, and that does it...Also, if you lock the doors with the remote, and then try to manually unlock them by reaching in and unlocking it, most likely, the car will relock the door.

The power package does not lock the door on it's own. You have to do it yourself. If it's locking on it's own, then you have a problem with the power locks and should get it checked out.quote:Also, if you lock the doors with the remote, and then try to manually unlock them by reaching in and unlocking it, most likely, the car will relock the door. Also incorrect.

If you lock the doors with the remote, then reach in and try to use the power lock button, the button will not work. However, you can still manually release the locking mechanism. My apologies.

A car that locks itself? That could be trouble.

quote:I was referring to the thing where if you unlock and don't get in after 15-20 seconds, it relocks itself.Ah, yes, you're right. If you unlock the doors with the fob but don;t open a door with 15 seconds it will relock itself. I did forget about that option.quote:If you lock the doors with the remote, then reach in and try to use the power lock button, the button will not work. However, you can still manually release the locking mechanism.Yes, that works as well. If you lock the car with the fob (with all the doors closed) or if you lock the doors with the electric switch on the door (with a door open) and then close the door the electric door buttons do not work.
