So ive been looking at doing LED's all the way around on the outside of my car and ive been looking for a replacement for the third light. I searched high and low on here and all ive seem to really find is this website. Ive been hesitant to order one because of the issues ive read. Has anything ever been resolved with the problems that happen?
It is a little scary but if you have the patience to wait Devin makes a good product. It took about 5 weeks to get the one for our Vibe, much less when I ordered the one for my Mazda 4-5 yrs ago now, so maybe he's just getting tired of it, but the site is still up and running and his products are still offered so he must make them available. He is also pretty bad about getting back via e-mail. I eventually contacted him through PayPal during this last order for the Vibe. Summary: Good product. Sucky customer service.BTW: If you are talking a complete LED conversion using LED "bulbs," you should be looking into the higher powered SMD's. The regular bulbs in these tails will be faster reacting, but harder to see. You may be disappointed in the outcome using std conversion bulbs.

I was the one who originally had the LED 3rd brake created. I spoke with Devin via email after researching the Mazda3 version on his site. After some back and forth I shipped him my 3BL (or HMCSTL if you prefer) and after about a month he shipped me back my original plus the new LED one. Since I was Product #1 I had to modify it slightly to make sure it stayed put and looked stock. I ended up removing the red lense cover and just leaving the LEDs in the open because the backboard was black and looked cleaner with my black Onyx Matrix. The product is amazing the quality is great. Mine still works perfectly after these few years. Although some one here have had issue with him and his site, I am not sure how things are going now. He could have lost interest in the business and just let things fall off the radar.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Ill have to think about it. Id really like to get one soon. Guess if I decide to get one ill show you guys once i get it and as the LED "bulbs" i was looking at a site v-leds.com. I get discounts off of their site so i was thinking of ordering bulbs from there. put like i said once its all done ill have pics posted

Guess if I decide to get one ill show you guys once i get it Too bad I didn't know anybody around me who drives an 03-08 Vibe where I could "borrow" their HM3rdBL assembly for use as a pattern/template. I'm currently in the process of making a small batch of them for the 09-10 Vibes. I'm sure I could easily custom make one for the first two generation Vibes. The unique thing about what I created is the "message" that illuminates when hitting the brakes. Plus, I've dimmed the display (compliments of a 5watt 250 ohm resistor) and using a relay, illuminate it with the park lights so the message is constantly displayed. It's quite a sight to see Also, for those who want a true "custom" look, I can spell out pretty much any word you want, just so it fits within the light dimensions. The ones I'm currently producing say "VIBE GT" and "PONTIAC". Due to the 09-10 Vibe HMBL being a narrow 3/4" tall, I've had to use the smaller 3mm LED's and it is real tight to fit what I've created. If you're really not in any real big hurry, maybe I can hook you up between now & spring To see what I've created so far, visit my cardomain site http://www.cardomain.com/ride/...age-2Oh, one final note, I'm charging $75.00 per HMBL which is a bit more than double from the Xenon store

Im not in a big rush. Im just planning and seeign how much its all going to cost me

You were reading my mind Bro I do know two people around me who own older generation Vibes. A 2005 & 2007. One of the guys is on my hockey team so I think I'll "borrow" his just for a day, long enough to make a pattern/template, then put it back up on his hatch. Then I could create a few initially for you guys who own older Vibes. Those six letters "PSYCHO" would be an easy one to create and really add to the already awesome ride you have I'll keep you posted ..................... Tim

In the meantime come up with a unique "name" or phrase from 5-9 characters in length and I should be able to create it

I appreciate the running/brake light mode on yours. It's a rather unique touch, but frankly, wouldn't it be easier and quicker to simply do up circuit board? Then you wouldn't have the drilling, placing, metal bending, and supporting to do of the individual LEDs.The soldering and connections would be much, much easier and cleaner too.

You are absolutely correct Call it a labor of love or just a lot of wasted time (not). If I were to use a PC board (which I seriously did consider) then the board would have to be mounted to a rigid bracket of some sort, then to the body of the hatch. The visible side of the PC board I'd pre-paint Black so the assembly blends in with surrounding hardware. If I were to do a hundred or so then I'd look into that as an option BUT I really don't see that as reality right now. When going "custom" as to building a different Phrase/Name then I may as well stick with my labor involved system as you've seen. The nice thing about it, for the 09-10's is that it rigidly secures to the hatch and doesn't budge, flex, or vibrate at all, Even when when slamming down the hatch to close it. The 09-10's do not have an opening glass area like the first two generations so than gave me a few different options over the older generations. Also when assembling all these LED's they are literally "pressed" into the metal which makes the soldering very easy (nothing moves on me at all). I'll stick with this method for now. Thanks for the suggestions. When I attempt to do some for the older generations I may just go the PC board route as the pros @ Xenon have done. That setup looks even simpler than what I did for the 09-10's

Simply let your imagination run WILD and if you are the right individual with the knowledge, resources, and TIME (lots of time ) then it WILL materialize and become a reality
