Because I KNOW that I sure can't: GM claims there isn't 'really' an 'actual' recall on my car, so they don't have to replace the PCU.Yet, Toyota is actively following their 'actual recall', and replacing those defective POC Delphi PCU's.I have come to the conclusion that GM is ACTIVELY trying to AVOID replacing ANY of the KNOWN defective PCU, as much as they can get away with. And now, they are 'denying' there IS a 'recall' on the Vibe PCU's I got that in a phone call to GM just TODAY.I keep reading about the PCU's failing, and GM TRYING to avoid even replacing them at no charge, unless people kick up a stink.I THINK that GM INTENDS to NEVER ACTUALLY RECALL the Vibes with the defective PCU's, and FULLY INTENDS TO weasel out of their responsibility to fix them en mass, as they SHOULD...and like Toyota actually IS DOING. And, this pisses me off.
Well actually here in Canada, the recall has been filed at Transports Canada (government) here:http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Se...pg=-1I guess GM can't deny it, or skip this recall. I guess there's an equivalent site in the US...
My step-moms Corolla was recalled, and she just got a letter of notice, and nothing else. It said Toyota would notify her once the part was ready to be installed. It isn't a GM issue, and one can assume GM doesn't want to take responsibility for Toyota's faulty parts. Either that, or the person you talked to knows nothing about it. I'd say you should go into a Toyota dealer with the letter you got, if you got a letter, or give them your situation and they should handle it pretty well.
